Why we offer this

Two reasons, and neither is charity. First, every duplicate coil that goes into a Bangalore house damages the brand we have built 35 years of business on, so we would rather it were caught. Second, a person who has seen a duplicate next to a genuine coil once never buys blind again, and those people become our customers without any selling from us. Checking your wire is the most persuasive thing we can do.

Signs that should make you ask

• The price was well below what the buy Finolex wires page shows for the same range and size.
• The shop would not let you scan before paying, or scanned it for you on their own phone.
• The outer QR verified but nobody opened a carton to scan the inner one.
• The QR did not scan, or scanned to something other than Finolex's own verification page. See QR not scanning.
• The scan said the code had already been used. See already-scanned codes.
• The printing along the insulation is uneven, smudged or missing. See insulation markings.
• The bill says "wire" with a quantity and no range, size or brand.
• The electrician or contractor chose the shop and is reluctant to say where it is.

One of these is a reason to check. Two or more is a reason to stop the wiring until you have.

How to get it checked

2. Or send photos on WhatsApp +91 88676 76700. The carton label, the inner QR, a stretch of the insulation printing, a cut end, and the bill. We can tell you a lot from photos and will say when we cannot.
3. Or ask us to look at delivery. If you are ordering from us anyway, bring the doubtful coil out when the vehicle arrives and we will check it there.

What we will and will not say

We will tell you whether the coil matches genuine Finolex on each of the checks above, and what to do next. If it is genuine, we will say so; it happens often and we are glad when it does. If it is not, we will tell you which checks failed and give you the evidence in writing so you can act on it. What we will not do is speculate about the shop or name it as a seller of duplicates on the strength of one coil. If it turns out to be duplicate

Do not let it go into the walls. Photograph everything, keep the bill, and use the complaint guide. If you need replacement wire quickly we can deliver next day and you scan every carton before paying, but that is your decision and it is not a condition of the check.
