What you get for the difference
Both packs are IS 694 flame-retardant single-core copper wire from Finolex, and both carry the same QR verification. Gold is positioned as the premium pack with the higher insulation specification and the premium carton, and it is what most electricians in Bangalore ask for by name on a new house. Silver is the standard pack and is the right choice where the budget is tight or the run is short. Gold Pack by size: what each is used for
- 1.0 sq mm: earth wire on lighting circuits and low-load points.
- 1.5 sq mm: lighting circuits and 6A socket points.
- 2.5 sq mm: 16A socket circuits, kitchen points, mixer and microwave.
- 4.0 sq mm: geyser and 1.5-ton AC points.
- 6.0 sq mm: 2-ton AC points and the main feed from meter to DB.
Gold Pack coils are 90 m only. If your run needs longer coils, the same wire in the FR 180 m project pack and 300 m / 200 m long coils is on the full Finolex price list.
