Reading the Legrand MCB price list
Three things decide the price of a DX3 breaker: the number of poles, the rating band and the curve. Poles are the big step, and that is where most house wiring money goes: a single pole for each outgoing circuit and a double pole or SPN for the incomer. The rating band matters only at 40A and above, so specifying a 32A where a 25A would do costs nothing extra, but specifying a 40A doubles the price. Curve is C for almost every residential circuit.
How many MCBs a house needs
A 2BHK typically needs one DP incomer, one 30 mA RCCB and 8 to 10 single-pole MCBs; a 3BHK 10 to 14. The MCB selector picks the rating for each circuit from its load and wire size, and the MCB, RCCB and RCBO guide explains which device does what.
Genuine DX3 vs copies
Legrand MCBs are copied because the brand carries a premium. A genuine DX3 has the integrated label holder, the biconnect lower terminals and the sliding bottom clamp described in the MPL, and a crisp laser-printed rating label.
